McKenzie Meade
Bio
McKenzie is an Associate at Michel | King, Michel & King, where she represents employees and business owners in labor and employment-related matters, including cases arising under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and other state-specific related laws.
McKenzie attended Radford University, wherein she majored in Political Science and minored in Women & Gender Studies. While at Radford, McKenzie was named Student Director of Radford University’s Orientation Program, Quest, and served as a research assistant for the Department of Political Science where she researched legislative histories related to Hurricane Katrina and disaster policies.
McKenzie received her J.D. from Samford University Cumberland School of Law, where she served as the Trial Advocacy Board’s Associate Judge of Public Relations, a Judge Abraham Caruthers Legal Research and Writing Fellow, and member of both Cumberland’s National Trial Team and American Journal of Trial Advocacy. In recognition of her trial competition achievements, McKenzie received Best Advocate in the Judge James O. Haley Federal Civil Trial Competition, Semi-Finalist in the Lone Star Classic National Trial Competition, and the Professionalism Award in the South Texas Mock Trial Competition. Additionally, her article, Title VII and Title IX: Sexual Harassment in Employment and Higher Education, was selected to be published in Volume 22, Number 2 of Cumberland’s American Journal of Trial Advocacy.
Prior to joining Michel | King, Michel & King, McKenzie worked in both personal injury and criminal defense, whereby she gained significant state court experience.
McKenzie is from a small town in the southwestern part of Virginia named Bluefield. She moved to Birmingham, Alabama to attend law school and fell in love with Alabama’s history and community. McKenzie proudly calls Birmingham her new home. She spends her free time traveling, learning new recipes, and spending time with her adopted pup, Leo.
